About ASC Chorley - Our history

ASC Timber Supplies was setup in 1955 operating from Devonshire Road in Chorley as a joinery manufacturers and timber merchants...

...since then we've grown to be one of the areas largest and most popular DIY and home improvement centre serving the general public and local tradespeople.

Here's a little more about our history...

Revolutionary concept

In 1964, after nine years of trading we opened a unique and revolutionary concept, a self service DIY store, on Steeley Lane.  At the time this was the first of its kind in the country.

Success and expansion

With the idea proving a success, we moved the entire business from our Devonshire Road premises to the Steeley Lane site in 1974.  To do this we purchased and expanded into the adjacent Courtoulds' Mill.

Further growth ten years later saw us taking over and adding the former B & R Taylors' engineering works to complete the 90,000 square foot site we occupy today.

Family run with family values

Setup by the current Magaging Director's farther, we are now a third generation company.  The Managing Director's children are actively involved in the running and future growth of ASC Chorley.  And we're still firmly rooted in Chorley.
